Allied Health Services

Provided by Burnaby Division of Family Practice

Allied health services aim to prevent, diagnose, and treat a range of mental and physical health conditions and illnesses as an additional service, in consultation with an individual's primary care providers. Eligibility criteria apply; individuals must be attached to a Burnaby family physician or nurse practitioner, and referred by them. B Well Health Coaching provides free chronic disease prevention coaching to individuals ages 19 and over to support them to make small, manageable, and self-directed steps to long-lasting health and behavioural change; serves adults who are risk of, or in early stages of, developing chronic disease. Mild to Moderate Mental Health Counselling Services provides free short-term counselling support (up to six sessions) for individuals ages 19 and over with mild to moderate mental health and/or substance use concerns who cannot afford counselling services, do not have access to extended health benefits, and do not qualify for services from Burnaby Mental Health and Substance Use. Service also offered in Afrikaans, Farsi, Hindi, and Punjabi, as well as other languages with support from the Provincial Language Service. Social Work Services provides free support to individuals presenting/dealing with abuse, neglect, self-neglect, unsafe environments, financial hardships, housing issues, social isolation, change in health conditions, and/or difficulty navigating health and social services. Serves individuals of all ages who are not active with another community social worker. Other services offered include child and youth mental health counselling, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, pharmacy, dietitian services, and foot care. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday; closed statutory holidays.
