Oversees the provision of health care services to Galiano Island, including health promotion and community wellness. Operates Galiano Health Care Centre which provides access to routine primary care and urgent medical care when capacity allows. Basic laboratory services are available 7 am to 10:10 am Thursdays. Provides opioid users with free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) that can be used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids like fentanyl, heroin, methadone, morphine, and oxycodone. In parnership with United Way British Columbia, delivers Better at Home (non-medical home support services for seniors) and Social Prescribing (connecting older adults with community-base social and wellness supports); see separate listings. Centre hours are 9 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday by appointment; phones are answered from 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 3 pm Monday to Friday. After-hours calls are handled from 5 pm to 8 am, seven days a week, by a rotating group of physicians from Galiano Island, Pender Island, and Mayne Island; page numbers are listed on the clinic's voice mail system.
