Provides temporary housing paired with settlement support services for recently arrived refugee claimants. Residents can stay between three to six months while their refugee claim process progresses and they search for more long-term housing options. Offers three small units for up to two people, two units for families, and three private rooms for single women with shared kitchen. Rent is determined based on shelter allowance given by welfare. Units are equipped with a kitchenette, electric stove, refrigerator, closet, bed, and a small dining table. Additionally, units come with kitchen utensils, bedding, and furniture. Not wheelchair accessible. Kinbrace also provides a shared space for community meals, celebrations, workshops or various gatherings. Settlement services include accompaniment for refugee claimants to find and access appropriate resources for their needs and interests; assistance with school registrations, government assistance processes, legal process information, employment workshops, and support with other areas of integration in Canada. A referral is required from BC CHARMS. Office hours are 10 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
