Law Society of BC

Regulates the legal profession in BC, protecting the public by setting and enforcing standards of professional and ethical conduct for lawyers. Ensures the public is well served by legal professionals who are honourable and competent, while also bringing a voice to issues affecting the justice system and the delivery of legal services. The Lawyer Directory is a searchable tool that individuals can use to find the names, contact information, and current practice status of lawyers licensed in BC. Also provides information and resources for lawyers and the public on the standards of conduct, the complaints and disciplines process, and hearings (conducted independently by the Law Society Tribunal). Complaints about lawyers' conduct can be filed by completing and submitting the online complaint form (www.lawsociety.bc.ca/lsbc/apps/forms/complaints/index.cfm). An Indigenous Navigator is available to provide support and guidance to Indigenous complainants, witnesses, and parties through the complaints and regulatory processes; email IndigenousNavigator@lsbc.org for assistance or inquiries. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society.
