Margaret Laurence House

Provides second-stage housing to women (including transgender women) and their children who have left abusive intimate partner relationships; women must have care of their children at least 50% of the time. Also accepts non-binary and gender-fluid individuals. Programming includes support, counselling, and advocacy services. Length of stay is from six to 18 months. One indoor cat is permitted; dogs are not allowed. Also offers an outreach program for women for whom housing is not immediately available and for women who no longer live at Margaret Laurence House but still need support. Limited office hours, but voicemail messages will be returned. Funded by BC Housing. Nonprofit society.
