Men's Therapy Centre (MTC)
Provides victim services and one-on-one and group counselling to any male/masculine identified person age 16 and over who have experienced childhood or adult trauma, which includes but is not limited to: childhood abuse of any kind, physical or sexual assault, intimate partner violence, hate crimes, family violence, traumatic loss, or an accident. May also include trauma from war, natural disaster, and medical procedures. Offers safe and confidential initial support and advice, which may include support through the criminal justice system, assistance with completing Victim Impact Statements, and referral to in-house counselling or to other community agencies depending on need. Counselling is provided on a sliding scale fee; help to access funding for counselling may be available. Also offers third party reporting to adult men (inclusive of cisgender and transgender men and non-binary and Two-Spirit people) victims; staff report the assault to police on behalf of the victim who remains anonymous. Serves Greater Victoria and southern Vancouver Island. Also offers community education and training opportunities. Office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday; appointments may be arranged at other times as well. Funding provided by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (MPSSG).
