Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) - Prince Rupert
Supports the well-being of children, youth, and families, especially those who are vulnerable, through child protection and child and youth mental health services. Also offers family support services, guardianship services, adoption, services for children and youth with support needs, and youth justice services. Other services coordinated through central provincial offices include helplines and after-hours support; resources and referral; funding and benefits programs; and specialized treatment for disabilities, mental health issues, and substance use. Child and family services in this area are also delivered by delegated Indigenous agencies Nisga'a Child and Family Services and Northwest Inter-Nation Family and Community Service Society. Serves Prince Rupert, Port Edward, Lax Kw'alaams, Gitxsala, and Gitga'at. Office hours are 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
