Moving Forward Family Services Society

Provides counselling services to individuals across BC and anyone in Canada unable to access local support. Operates from a client-centered, anti-racist, and anti-oppression approach. Services are delivered by supervised students in social work and counselling programs who are in the final months of their education as well as registered therapists willing to offer sliding-scale services to low-income clients. Counselling is available in person in Surrey and through online platforms and telephone. Operates on a 'pay what you can' model with fee depending on wait time for appointment and counsellor professional designation; $50 individual or $75 couple per session is charged for an appointment with a clinical counsellor and no wait time, $20 indivudal or $35 couple per session is charged for an appointment with an intern with up to an five-week wait time, and lower fee/free is available with proof of low income with waits of up to twelve weeks. Clients with insurance coverage are expected to access this coverage at standard fees before starting reduced fee services. Services at the lowest cost are limited to six sessions. Intake forms are available online. Also offers free one-on-one psychoeducation services. Depending on counsellor availability, offers services in English, French, American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Bengali, Brazilian Portuguese, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Croation, Farsi, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Hokkien, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Malay, Mandarin, Polish, Punjabi, Romanian, Serbian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Urdu.
