Nelson and District Women's Centre
Promotes the equality and empowerment of all women, gender diverse individuals, and their children through advocacy, education and the provision of services and supports that meet their needs. Drop-In provides coffee, tea, snacks, meals, and nutritious food donated by local businesses to take home. Resources and referral information about health, employment, financial assistance, housing and abuse. Access to free clothing store, feminist library, computers, internet, and printers. Free counselling sessions with student practicum counsellors (when active, call to book). Crafternoons offer materials and guidance for crafters of any level with supplies provided. Lunch provided by a local restaurant each week from 12 noon to 3 pm Thursdays. Youth Drop-In provides a safe and welcoming space for youth aged 11 to 14 to connect, access resources, and engage in meaningful activities. Runs weekly from 3 pm to 6 pm Wednesday from September to June. Queer Drop-In offers a chance to connect in a safe and inclusive environment for gender diverse individuals, queer folks, and allies. Takes place once monthly from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Publishes monthly e-newsletter. Run by the West Kootenay Women's Association.
