North Island Supportive Recovery Society
Second Chance Recovery House offers a safe residential recovery and day program. Capacity for 10 men, 19 years of age and over, who are seeking recovery from problematic substance use. Day programming guests attend 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Uses holistic, behavioural, and harm-reduction concepts while integrating the trans-theoretical stages of change model. Offers faith-based, secular, and First Nations programming. Support services include goal setting, aftercare planning, individual and group counselling, and education sessions. Length of stay is prescribed by referring clinician and can be from 28 days to 90 days. Residents may not work during their stay. Accepts individuals on substitution therapy. Smoking is allowed. No pets. Fees are $60/day; subsidies are available. Referral accepted from mental health and addiction clinician, addiction medicine team or crisis nurse from Campbell River hospital, and community agencies. Also provides crisis stabilization and non-medical detox for four men: referral required from a Campbell River Hospital crisis nurse. Intake hours are 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week. Office hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. House is not wheelchair accessible. Recovery house is registered with the Assisted Living Registry, Ministry of Health.
