Restorative Justice Victoria
Addresses crime and harm in the community through restorative justice, as a diversion from, in conjunction with, or outside of the criminal legal system. Victim-centred, community-based restorative justice program. Provides a safe, trauma-informed response to community safety concerns and complex harms in a manner that allows for accountability to be the pathway to healing, connection, dignity, belonging, and care. Supports survivors as well as provides pathways for healing to those who have caused harm. Offers outreach, education, and culturally responsive support for diverse communities, including BIPOC, immigrants, refugees, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and people with disabilities. Programs include RESTORE, which facilitates dialogue between victims and responsible parties, and TRANSFORM, which addresses power-based offences such as sexual harm, intimate partner violence, and hate crimes. Also engages in public education and outreach to increase awareness of restorative justice in the community. Referrals accepted from self, community, police, crown, and community organizations. Office hours vary; generally are from 9 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday. Appointments are required. Serves Victoria, Esquimalt, and Oak Bay for police and school-based referrals and Capital Regional District (Victoria as well as Central Saanich, Colwood, Esquimalt, Highlands, Langford, Metchosin, North Saanich, Oak Bay, Saanich, Sidney, Sooke, and View Royal) for crown and court-related matters.
