Royal Canadian Legion - BC/Yukon Command

Provides assistance and advice for all current serving members, veterans, and their dependents. Sponsors and raises funds for youth and veteran programs. Financial assistance is available for veterans in need. Also provides form completion assistance and advocacy to veterans applying for disability benefits from Veterans Affairs Canada. Local Legion branches across BC are listed at www.legion.ca/contact-us/find-a-branch. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society, registered charity.

Provides rent supplements, utility payments, rental arrears, rental deposit assistance, and wraparound-support referrals to to eligible veterans and their families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Provides rent supplements, utility payments, rental arrears, rental deposit assistance, and wraparound-support referrals to to eligible veterans and their families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. To be eligible, individuals must be a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces (rangers or reservists) or RCMP and currently homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless (housing situation will end within one month). Applicants should complete the online application form or request a paper copy by phone, and then submit it along with supporting documents (copy of proof of service if available) by email or mail. Serves BC and the Yukon. Funded by Government of Canada.

Offers supportive transitional housing in Colwood for veterans (former Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP).

Offers supportive transitional housing in Colwood for veterans (former Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP). House is staffed by a resident manager 24 hours daily and supported by peer volunteers. Assists veterans experiencing homelessness through benefits assistance, advocacy, information, and referrals to services including career transition coaching and trauma-informed counselling. Offers bus passes and food vouchers if needed. Works with residents to find permanent housing when they are ready. Financial contribution may be requested depending on veteran's resources. Offered in partnership with Legion Manor Victoria. Apply directly to the housing provider. Not wheelchair accessible.
