Preschool supports the learning and developmental needs of young First Nation children up to age six living in Merritt and area (Douglas Lake, Nicola Ranch, and Quilchena). Programming is centred around education, health promotion, Nsyilxcen culture and language, nutrition, social support, and parent and family involvement. Supports parents and other caregivers to learn and improve skills that contribute to healthy child development and to strengthen family relationships. Provides learning opportunities to children, based on holistic physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and social development. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and Health Canada, and coordinated by BC First Nations Head Start.
