Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS)

Firefighters respond to fires and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Services include firefighting, emergency medical response, emergency rescue, and the inspection of buildings to ensure they meet the fire code and bylaws. Requests for firefighter personnel and/or demonstrations to attend an event are accepted, as well as requests for a fire truck to be present at an event. In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the Combined Overdose Outreach Team offers brief outreach follow-up to individuals in Vancouver recently attended to by VFRS for opioid overdose; social worker and VFRS staff visit individuals in their homes, helping them find appropriate services, including accessing opioid agonist therapy and overdose prevention education. Serves Vancouver. Call 911 for emergency service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
