Wilp Si'Satxw (House of Purification) Community Healing Centre

Provides a six- to eight-week residential addiction treatment for First Nations people aged 18 and over, offered in a women's only, men's only, and co-ed format. Also offers a program for female youth ages 15 to 17. Minimum and maximum length of stay varies. Services include individual and group counselling, educational teachings, development of First Nations spirituality and cultural awareness, fitness, and self-care. A holistic and spiritually-based program, it employs behavioural modification techniques, and uses the first four steps of the AA model with First Nations culture as one of the components. Also deals with residential school issues, trauma, and family violence. Prevention activities include workshops for community. Must have two weeks of sobriety prior to admission. Accepts individuals on substitution therapy who are past the stabilization period. Smoking is permitted. Referrals accepted from alcohol and drug counselors, band social workers, community health representatives, and from treatment or recovery centres. Wheelchair accessible. Funded by First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) as a National Native Alcohol and Abuse Program (NNADAP). Nonprofit society.
