Workforce Development Consulting Services of Northern BC
Supports job seekers, employers, and communities to develop a sustainable workforce. Provides customized employment and vocational rehabilitation to people with disabilities, health conditions, or major barriers to employment. Services include vocational interest and aptitude assessments, employment search assistance, job placement support, and job development. QUESTPlus is a free, 16-week essential skills training program for youth ages 17 to 29 wanting to work toward specific industry employment goals. Work Connect is a free, six-week essential skills training program for individuals ages 30 to 65. Programs offer industry awareness presentations and industry and trade related certifications. Workshops include communication, time management, problem solving, goal setting, and job search tools and preparation. Provides two weeks of supported job search and employment connection, job lead sessions, networking support, and follow-up. Must be a BC resident, legally entitled to work in Canada, unemployed or underemployed, and not attending school and ineligible to receive Employment Insurance (EI). Must not be connected with any other labour market development programs (exception to WorkBC clients) and are in need of new or enhanced skills to find and secure employment. Programs are funded by Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills through the Canada-British Columbia Workforce Development Agreement. Referral accepted from self or other. Serves Northern BC. Hours are 8:15 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday.
