Aboriginal Supported Child Development (ASCD)

Enables Indigenous babies, children, and youth up to age 18 who require extra support to be included in childcare settings and community programs. Designed to ensure cultural safety and cultural sensitivity for First Nations children and families. Supports children in the areas of physical, cognitive, or social/emotional and behavioural development. Services include assistance finding childcare, individual planning, access to a toy and equipment lending library, and referral to other community resources. Referral accepted from self or other. Serves Kyuquot, Ditidaht, Huu-ay-aht, Uchucklesaht, Tseshaht, Hupacasaht, Tla-o-qui-aht, Ucluelet, Toquaht, Ahousaht, and Hesquiaht. Services are also available to Indigenous families who live in Tofino, Ucluelet, and Port Alberni. Funded by Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).
