Amber House

Provides safe and secure temporary shelter and support services for women (including self-identified women), with or without children, who are fleeing or who are at risk of gender-based violence; accepts male children up to age 18. Accepts women from out of the province. Length of stay is 30 days, may be extended as long as actively looking for new accommodation Gives women a safe and supportive living environment with access to daily living requirements such as clothing, toiletries, and nutritious meals. Also provides transportation, accompaniment, and advocacy support, as well as assists clients in accessing financial assistance, legal aid, and affordable housing. Offers resource information to enable women to explore their options and define their goals as well as to assist with the development of safety plans. Personal identification (ID) is not required. Wheelchair accessible. Accepts pets; animal can be with owner in her room. Funded by BC Housing.
