Service Description

Administers and enforces regulations of Animal Care and Control Bylaw in Coquitlam. Issues include unleashed dogs or dogs running at large, vicious or attacking dogs, barking dogs, stray pets, lost pets, and impounded pets. Issues dog licences and cat identification. Does not deal with abused domestic animals or injured wildlife. Also handles dog licensing. Coquitlam Animal Shelter offers pet adoption, pick-up of dead animals on roads and in public areas, and private and general animal cremation; sheltering services are also provided to residents of Port Moody. Pet Pantry offers excess pet food to those in need; contact shelter to arrange pickup. City Kennels offers dog boarding services; fees are charged. Shelter hours are 9 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday, and 10 am to 4 pm Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays (closed Christmas and New Years Day). Bylaw reporting hours are 8:30 am to 8:30 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 4:30 pm Saturdays and Sundays.
