Assisting the Community with Transitioning Schools (ACTS)

Supports students in Grades 5 to 7 with the transition from elementary school to high school through homework clubs in 10 schools in Burnaby. Includes a healthy dinner and tutoring by trained high school volunteer mentors, followed by open gym time. Goal is to increase academic confidence and build social connections, so students have familiar faces when they reach high school. Serves 12th Avenue, Cameron, Cascade Heights, Douglas Road, Edmonds, Gilmore, Second Street, Stoney Creek, Stride and University Highlands elementary schools in Burnaby. Office hours are 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Thursday, and 9 am to 4 pm Fridays.
