Service Description

Provides assessment and treatment of individuals and couples of all ages with sexual dysfunction and reproductive health issues. Concerns include difficulties with sexual interest, arousal, and orgasm/ejaculation; pain associated with sexual activity; problems in completing chosen sexual acts; sexual or reproductive difficulties associated with psychiatric or medical illness, surgery, or injury; and male infertility resulting from ejaculatory disorders. Also provides limited assessment and treatment services for paraphilias (unusual or abnormal sexual interests or behaviours), and sexuality concerns related to intersex conditions. Staff include psychiatrists, sexual medicine physicians, and specialized nurses. Physician referral required. Does not accept referrals of patients with untreated medical conditions, including drug or alcohol dependency; sexual dysfunctions due to psychiatric or personality disorders in which treatment of the primary condition would be expected to resolve the sexual concerns; concerns centred on sexual orientation; initial or primary therapy for sexual victimization or abuse; or paraphilias in which criminal charges have been laid or are pending. Serves BC and Yukon. Hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
