BC Employment and Assistance (BCEA)

Provides income assistance, disability assistance, and referrals to employment services for individuals who are unemployed, underemployed, awaiting other income, or unable to work. Eligibility and monthly assistance rates depend on income and asset levels, and the family situation. Applicants are expected to take advantage of all other sources of income and assets before qualifying. Most applicants must complete an orientation session as part of the application procedure, depending on age or physical or mental health. Special income assistance programs include Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Persons with Persistent and Multiple Barriers to Employment (PPMB). Access to income or disability assistance is through local BCEA offices. Online applications are available at www.myselfserve.gov.bc.ca. Phone service is available from 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
