BC Newcomer Services (BC NSP and SAF HAVN) and Temporary Foreign Workers Program
BC Newcomer Services Program (BC NSP) provides free settlement services, labour market services (information, resources, and limited employment services), English language training, and community connections/social events to temporary residents and vulnerable naturalized Canadian citizens. BC Safe Haven (BC SAF HAVN) provides free settlement services (only to asylum seekers and refugee claimants), labour market services, English language training, and community connections/social events to refugee claimants. Also provides counselling to refugee claimants, CUAET visa holders, and newcomers through other humanitarian pathways. Funded by BC Ministry of Municipal Affairs. The Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) Program offers free settlement services, employment skills training, information on workplace rights and responsibilities, soft advocacy services (such as information sharing and research), English language training, and community connections/social events to migrant workers on a closed work permit. Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC).
