Service Description

Volunteers assist seniors age 65 and older who are in general good health, but require help with daily tasks to maintain independent living within their home and community for as long as possible. Services include light housekeeping, basic home repair, yard work, and rides to medical appointments (details below). Fees for service are on a sliding scale based on income. Office hours are 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by the Province of BC and managed by United Way BC.

Provides transportation to medical appointments for seniors and individuals with health conditions. Individuals must be a resident of Delta. Services include space for personal attendant. Can accommodate walker depending on vehicle and service animals. Pick-up location is limited to Delta and drop-off location is from the North Shore to Langley (includes Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, West Vancouver, and White Rock). Service is available daytime hours, any day pending volunteer availability. Transportation is by car with a volunteer driver. Booking is required five to seven days in advance preferably; booking hours can be made direct during office hours or by voice mail. Multiple appointments may be booked in one trip. 24 hours notice is required to cancel a trip. Preregistration is required; apply through the agency. Cost to client is on a sliding scale based on income with subsidy available, and clients are responsible for parking; clients are invoiced monthly.
