Better at Home - Kimberley
Assists seniors age 65 and over who are in general good health, but require help with non-medical daily tasks to maintain independent living within their homes and remain connected to their communities. Services include light housekeeping, grocery shopping, friendly visits, snow shovelling, minor home repairs, light yard work, and transportation to medical and other critical appointments/social recreational activities. Fees are charged for some services on a sliding scale (based on income). Serves Kimberley and Marysville. Program hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Thursday. Funded by Ministry of Health (MOH) and managed by United Way BC.
Also provides free transportation to seniors ages 65 and over residing in Kimberley, Marysville, and the surrounding area for medical and non-medical appointments, grocery shopping, or other errands. Pick-up and drop-off only, but will provide shopping accompaniment. Transportation provided to Kimberley, Marysville and surrounding areas, and to Cranbrook as needed. Walkers, wheelchairs, and scooters may be accommodated, depending on the available vehicle. May also accommodate a personal attendant and a service animal, depending on available vehicle. Service hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday through Thursday. Transportation is provided by volunteers and based on volunteer availability. Advanced booking is required; seven days in advance is preferred. Notice is required as soon as possible to cancel a trip. Accepts multiple appointments for one trip. Also accepts booking of multiple trips. Pre-registration by phone is required. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Thursday.
