Better at Home - Langley

Assists Langley seniors age 65 or over who are in general good health, but require help with daily tasks to maintain independent living within their home and community as long as possible. Services include grocery shopping, light housekeeping, and friendly visiting. Subsidies are available for service costs. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 2 pm Saturdays. Funded by Ministry of Health (MOH), and managed by United Way of British Columbia (UWBC).


Also provides transportation for seniors ages 65 and over living in Langley. Service is available throughout the Lower Mainland with no restriction on the purpose of the trip. The individual client pick-up service can include accompaniment if needed. Services include support for clients with dementia, space for a personal attendant, and help with vehicle entry/exit. Can accommodate walkers, and clients with oxygen equipment. May accommodate service animals depending on the driver. Does not accept clients with wheelchairs. Service is seven days a week and hours vary depending on the needs of client and the availability of drivers. Booking should be as soon as possible and at least one day in advance. Hours to book a trip are 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Booking of regular trips is permitted. Prefer clients not book multiple appointments in one trip. Pre-registration is required and completed during the intake process. There is a set fee based on the geographic zone traveled. Fees based on a sliding scale are available for those who qualify for subsidy through the Better At Home program. There is an additional cost for parking. A client is invoiced for applicable fees. Transportation provided by volunteer drivers. Clients applying for subsidized services are added to a wait-list after intake. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 2 pm Saturdays.
