BladeRunners - Campbell River

Provides a free employment and skills training program for Aboriginal ages 18 to 30 who have multiple barriers to employment. Aims to facilitate entry into the labour force and to foster long-term employment prospects. Offers structured training to help participants gain life skills, job readiness skills, and industry-recognized certifications. Training program is followed by job search assistance, job placement, and on-the-job training with on-site monitoring. Coordinators also provide ongoing follow-up support to help participants overcome personal problems so they do not interfere with employment. Graduates may qualify for required safety gear, tools, or further training. Participants must be unemployed or underemployed and not in school, not receiving Employment Insurance (EI), and legally entitled to work in Canada. Serves the Campbell River and Comox Valley areas. Funded by the Government of Canada and the Provide of BC.
