Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants - Vancouver
Helps unemployed and underemployed skilled immigrants find employment that uses their pre-arrival skills, experience, and education. Eligibility criteria include permanent residency within the previous ten years or a protected person; a minimum of one year of work experience in construction, engineering or technology, or one year of work experience in a regulated occupation, or two years of pre-arrival experience in an unregulated occupation prior to coming to Canada. Individuals between the ages of 19 to 30 only required to have 1 year of pre-arrival experience in an unregulated occupation. Eligible applicants must have an intermediate to advanced level of English language proficiency, and must be unemployed or underemployed. Services include guidance on evaluating credentials and obtaining licences to work in BC, job search support, access to funding for additional skills training, work placement opportunities, and mentorship. Program offered in Vancouver and also online and at additional locations: Burnaby, New Westminster, and Prince George. Online info sessions offered from 12 noon to 1 pm every Tuesday. Vancouver office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Government of Canada and British Columbia as a Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants program.
