Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants - Vancouver Island North
Helps unemployed or underemployed skilled newcomers find work that matches their pre-arrival skills and experience. Eligible applicants must have permanent residency within the previous ten years; certification in a profession or trade from their home country; and relevant work experience. Applicants between the ages of 19 and 30 need at least one year of experience. Intermediate to advanced English language proficiency is required.
Stream 2 program supports individuals needing assistance with upgrading credentials for regulated BC occupations; services include individual career coaching and help with building an action plan, financial support for upgrading skills (including language training), and help with preparing for exams. Stream 3 program supports individuals needing assistance with upgrading for unregulated BC occupations; services include individual career coaching, help with building an action plan, and financial support for upgrading skills (including language training). Serves Central and North Vancouver Island (Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Parksville, Port Alberni, and Qualicum Beach); in-person and remote services offered. Office hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness.
