Child and Youth Victim Support Program (CVSS)

Provides support to children and youth (ages 19 and younger) who are victims or witnesses of a crime, along with their non-offending family members. Offers emotional support during the police investigation and court proceedings, safety planning, court accompaniment and orientation, information about the court process and the criminal justice system, assistance with justice-related forms, such as victim impact statements and CVAP forms, up-to-date information about the status of an investigation or court update, support for young victims/witnesses to prepare for testifying in court, and information and referral to other services. Participation is voluntary, and may begin at any stage of the legal process. Support offered over the phone or in person. For residents of Burnaby or New Westminster, or for cases where the crime took place in Burnaby or New Westminster, or the court proceedings are taking place in New Westminster or Vancouver (for Burnaby cases). Office hours are 9 am to 7 pm Monday to Thursday and 9 am to 4 pm Fridays.
