Comox Valley Aboriginal Head Start Preschool Program
Promotes the healthy development of Indigenous children ages three to five and their families, living off-reserve in Comox Valley. Supports the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children, and supports their parents or caregivers as their primary teachers. Provides structured half-day programming in licensed preschool and includes Aboriginal culture and language, education and school readiness, health promotion, nutrition, social support, and parental involvement. Monday to Thursday morning sessions are from 9 am to 11:15 am, and afternoon sessions are from 12:45 pm to 3:30 pm. No cost for participation, registration is open; transportation support is available and lunch and snacks are provided. Funded by MCFD and Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) as an Aboriginal Head Start in Urban and Northern Communities (AHSUNC) program.
