David's Place
Provides supportive recovery housing with a structured therapeutic community to maintain sobriety for adults with a substance use disorder. Designed for individuals who have completed detox or treatment and need supportive recovery services. Operates from a therapeutic village model. Services include stable housing, meals, individualized service plans, counselling and mental health resources, assistance with managing medication, and psychosocial support that includes life skills and tools that support greater resiliency and strength. Stays are typically three to 12 months, with extension to 18 months in extenuating circumstances. Priority is given to marginalized individuals and those demonstrating financial need. Accepts all genders. Accepts individuals on substitution therapy. Applications accepted online at https://www.islandcrisiscaresociety.ca/connect-with-services. Eligibility includes being from the Nanaimo region or having family in the area between Ladysmith and Qualicum. Not wheelchair accessible, and unable to accept pets. No fee for service; program costs are covered by government funding, donations, and scholarships. Registered with the Assisted Living Registry as supportive recovery.
