Service Description

Provides a safe and secure rehabilitative residential program for women (cisgender and transgender) ages 18 and above who have faced trafficking into labour or sexual exploitation. Residents can stay for up to nine months. Drug- and alcohol-free environment; sobriety is a prerequisite. Accepts individuals on opioid substitution therapy if they are on a taper plan as directed by their doctor. Provides 24-hour support, life skills education, coping and goal development programs, therapeutic counselling, and psychosocial rehabilitation. Through partnerships with other community resources offers confidential and culturally sensitive services including in law enforcement, immigration and refugee concerns, legal counsel, advocacy, income assistance, counselling, medical services, addiction and mental health support, culturally sensitive programming, as well as translation and language services. While cooperation with law enforcement or immigration officials is not mandatory upon intake, residents are encouraged to access all essential services available to them, including the justice system. Referrals are accepted from law enforcement agencies, community organizations, nonprofits, and faith groups. Also offers outreach and programming support to victims of exploitation and trafficking of any gender through the Propel Survivor Development Centre.
