Dzee Ba'yugh (Heart House)

Service Description

Provides safe emergency shelter and transition house services for up to six women (cisgender and transgender) with or without children who are fleeing family violence. Priority for beds is given to Indigenous women with children from CSFS member nations (Burns Lake Band, Cheslatta Carrier Nation, Nadleh Whut'en, Wet'suwet'en First Nation, Stellat'en First Nation, Saik'uz First Nation, Takla Lake First Nation, Yekooche First Nation, Skin Tyee Nation, Nee Tahi Buhn Band, and Lake Babine Nation). Accepts male children up to age 16; older males may be accepted if they do not pose any real or perceived safety risk. Length of stay is 30 days. High-barrier house; substance use is prohibited, but will work with clients to access substance use supports if wanted. Offers culturally specific services with a holistic wellness approach that blends evidence-based practices with traditional healing. Services may include trauma-informed therapeutic life skills, in-house clinical therapy, and group therapy. Will provide advocacy and support in accessing other services if no beds are available. Personal identification is not required. Cannot accommodate pets. Wheelchair accessible.
