Dzee Ba'yugh (Heart House)

Provides safe emergency shelter and transition house services for up to six women (inclusive of cisgender and transgender women), with or without children, who are fleeing family violence; stay is up to 30 days. Accepts male children up to age 16; older males may be accepted if they do not pose any real or perceived safety risk. Priority for beds is given to Indigenous women with children from CSFS member nations (Burns Lake Band, Cheslatta Carrier Nation, Nadleh Whut'en, Wet'suwet'en First Nation, Stellat'en First Nation, Saik'uz First Nation, Takla Lake First Nation, Yekooche First Nation, Skin Tyee Nation, Nee Tahi Buhn Band, and Lake Babine Nation). High-barrier house; substance use is prohibited, but will work with clients to access substance use supports if wanted. Offers culturally specific services with a holistic wellness approach that blends evidence-based practices with traditional healing. Services may include trauma-informed therapeutic life skills, in-house clinical therapy, and group therapy. Will provide advocacy and support in accessing other services if no beds are available. Personal identification (ID) is not required. Cannot accommodate pets. Wheelchair accessible.
