Employment and Training Programs - Vancouver (Hornby Street)

YWCA Aspire helps newcomer refugee women gain work experience, and includes paid work placement and follow-up support. YWCA Afghan Women's Employment (AWE) supports Afghan refugee self-identified women in exploring and securing careers or further education in Canada; offered in Dari and Pashto. YWCA Axis serves immigrant women who have experienced domestic violence. This 12-week, one-to-one, trauma-informed program helps participants develop an employment or training plan to achieve sustainable employment or further education; also provides service in Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, Mandarin, Punjabi, Russian, and Ukranian. Delivery is online. YWCA Believe empowers 2SLGBTQIA+ newcomers to build their careers through wraparound career support with a focus on inclusivity. YWCA Discover is 44-week Early Childhood Educator Basic (ECE) certificate program for women, delivered by YWCA Metro Vancouver, Sprott Shaw College, and WorkBC Centres; provides participants with the skills and competencies they need for a career as an ECE, in line with industry standards. In Motion and Momentum+ helps participants of all genders improve career readiness, tap into their full potential, and create the lives they want to live, through goal setting and action planning; delivery is online.
