Families in Recovery (Fir)

Provides specialized inpatient support for women who are pregnant or newly parenting, with substance use and mental health concerns. Helps women and their newborns stabilize and withdraw from substances, keeping mothers and babies together whenever possible and continuing to provide care from antepartum to postpartum and between hospital and community. Interdisciplinary team includes perinatal addiction medicine doctors, nurses, social workers, and patient and family advisors. Services include recreation and art therapy, Indigenous cultural support and advocacy, nutrition assessment and support, and advocacy assistance for housing, income, and other needs. Women may self-refer; lack of a physician, medical card, or housing is not a barrier to attending the clinic.
