First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day

Service Description

Enables members of BC First Nations with limited or no access to their own doctors or nurse practitioners to make virtual appointments for primary health care with doctors trained to follow the principles and practices of cultural safety and humility. Linked to both Rural Urgent Doctor in Need (RUDi) and Rural Outreach Support (ROSe), provides emergency medicine and critical care support for clients. At appointment time, patients are connected via FNHA zoom conferencing; a laptop, smartphone, or tablet with internet connection and a built-in microphone, as well as a headset (recommended) or ear buds for privacy is required. Appointments are required. Free service is available from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm seven days a week.

Participating doctors are trained to follow the principles and practices of cultural safety.
