Free 10-week program for families with children or youth ages six to 17 living with overweight or obesity and specific health concerns. Requires referral from a physician or nurse practitioner. Supports children or youth and their families to build a foundation for healthy living through family connections, balanced eating, active living, mental health, screen time, and sleep. Body positive, inclusive approach. Group program provides a weekly educational session, and a weekly family fun activity weekend session. Offers support through a multidisciplinary team of professionals including a physician, dietitian, mental health professional, and exercise specialist. Funded by Ministry of Health and delivered locally through a partnership of the YMCA and health authorities.
