GF Strong Adult Concussion Services (GFACS)

Service Description

Provides adult concussion services to individuals ages 18 and up with a diagnosis of concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) less than one year ago; clients must live within the Vancouver Coastal Health area of service. Offers a Group Education Session that provides education about concussion, concussion recovery, and self-management strategies. Referral required from a physician or nurse practitioner using the online referral form. Clients who have attended the group education session and are experiencing persistent concussion symptoms may be referred to the Rehabilitation Program. Provides time-limited concussion treatment emphasizing self-management. Team members may include an occupational therapist, physiatrist, psychologist, physical therapist, and vocational rehabilitation counsellor. Referral form is provided to the primary care provider following client's attendance at the Group Education Session.
