Greater Victoria Housing Security and Rent Bank Program
Provides short-term financial help for low-to-moderate income households at risk of losing their housing due to a temporary financial crisis. Must be 19 years of age or older and a resident of Greater Victoria (or a resident moving to Greater Victoria). Small (no more than $3,000), interest-free loans are available to eligible renters who have the ability to repay the loans over a period of time, typically no longer than 24months. Loans may be used for rental arrears, next month's rent, overdue essential utilities, security/pet deposits, or first month’s rent to secure housing. To apply, fill out an online pre-assessment form at https://bcrentbank.ca/how-to-apply/. A case manager will reach out within two business days to discuss next steps. The loan process can take five to 10 business days, and there is no guarantee of approval. If approved, the program pays landlords or property managers directly. Office hours are 9 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday; emails and phone calls will be returned during these hours. Please call ahead for in-person meetings to ensure the availability of a Rent Bank Program staff person. Funded by the BC Rent Bank.
