Guardianship and Permanency Services

Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) delegated Indigenous agency that supports the well-being of Indigenous children, youth, and families. Social workers provide guardianship services to urban Indigenous children and youth continuing care. As legal guardians, social workers focus on permanency planning, while ensuring that the child or youth's cultural identity is preserved. Connects with other urban Indigenous community resources, service providers, and caregivers to ensure stability and continuity; and when possible, reconnects children and youth to their cultural home community and/or family.
