Harm Reduction Clinic/AIDS Prevention Program

Provides Public Health Nursing services and harm reduction supplies, along with harm reduction education and referrals to health services, addictions services, and other social supports. Public health nurse assists with HIV testing, hepatitis testing, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment, vaccines and immunizations, PAP testing, pregnancy testing, emergency contraceptive pill, tuberculosis testing, and wound care. Nursing services are by appointment, 9 am to 11:30 am Monday to Saturday and drop in 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm. Outreach nursing services are available from 9 am to 11:30am and 1 pm to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

Harm Reduction services include distribution of clean needles, sterile water, and alcohol wipes; disposal of used needles; and health information to encourage safer injection, inhalation, and insufflation practices. Provides safer drug use supplies such as crack pipe mouthpiece and screens, and safer sex supplies including condoms. Provides free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) that can be used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids like heroin, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, and fentanyl. Opioid Agonist Treatment provides an outpatient program for individuals who use heroin or other opiates, offering assessment; long-term stabilization on methadone, suboxone, sustained release oral morphine, or Safe(r) Supply; withdrawal management; and referrals to services such as counselling, residential treatment, and other supports. Harm reduction services are available on a drop-in basis from 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm. An Overdose Prevention Site provides a place where people who use drugs can be safely monitored and treated immediately if they overdose; hours are 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm.

The Wellness Truck is a mobile program providing street outreach and harm reduction supplies, along with harm reduction education and referrals to health services, addictions services, and other social supports. Services include distribution of clean needles, sterile water, and alcohol wipes; used sharps retrieval and disposal; and health information to encourage safer injection practices. Provides safer drug use supplies such as crack pipe mouthpiece and screens, and injection supplies. Provides safer sex supplies, including condoms. Hours are 7 pm to 11:30 pm Monday to Saturday.
