Healthy Self, Healthy Families Program

Group workshop offers emotional support, information, and tools for newcomer adults and youth who experience multiple barriers to settlement. The aim of the workshops is to help in maintaining healthy lifestyles and relationships, and allows participants to address complexities including changing family dynamics, addictive and behavioural issues, sexual health, traumatic experiences, and mental well-being. The program seeks to educate about coping strategies and to prevent difficult mental health issues through psychoeducation. Participants are supported to share their feelings and lived experiences in a safe, non-judgmental space. Workshops are facilitated by a family counsellor. Language assistance is provided, which enables sensitive mental health-related topics to be discussed using an appropriate cultural lens. Specific details about services can be found on the events page.
