ICA Settlement Services
Provides services to immigrants and refugees who are permanent residents in the Capital Regional District. Supports individuals and families as they make the adjustment to life in Canada. Settlement workers can assist in dealing with isolation and culture shock, family issues, health and health care information, housing, education and training, Canadian law, income taxes, childcare and family concerns, social benefits, employment information, citizenship, immigration and refugee protection, community skills and resources, and human rights. Also helps with filling forms, advocacy (when needed), understanding systems, explaining benefits, accessing services, and providing family and individual support. Services are available in multiple languages; interpretation and translation available upon request. Case management support is available for a determined length of time to individuals and families facing multiple barriers to their settlement journey. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
