Indigenous Care Team
Assists Indigenous people (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) and their families to access quality, culturally safe health care services. Facilitates communication and cultural understanding between patients and care providers, and helps patients understand health care processes, procedures, and terminology. Indigenous Health Services Assistant provides general practical support to patients and families, such as orientation, explanation, connection, communication, and direction. Indigenous Care Coordinator is part of a direct care team, and provides case-specific clinical and social service contributions at intake, planning, delivery, and discharge. Indigenous Care Team (ICT) also work with Indigenous Patient Experience Advisors in consultation with the Patient Care Quality Office to address the concerns and experiences of Indigenous people within the health care system. Serves Indigenous people from Northern BC. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday to Friday.
