Indigenous Liaison Nurse (ILN) - Saanich

Assists Indigenous people and their families to access culturally safe, quality health care services. Services include assisting with patient support during hospital stay and discharge, accessing non-insured health benefits, getting a compassionate parking pass for a family member, and referrals to community resources. Helps patients access pastoral care, or connects them with an Elder for spiritual, emotional, and cultural support. Advocates on behalf of patients’ individual rights to be consulted and active in decisions about health care. Helps patients understand health care processes, provides education and awareness for hospital staff, and facilitates communication and cultural understanding between patients and care providers. Serves Saanich. Hours are 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
