Service Description

A clean and safe, supervised injection site that provides booths where clients inject pre-obtained illicit drugs under the supervision of nurses and non-clinical mental health workers; accessible to injection drug users who are not well connected to health care services; use more than one drug; experience both addiction and mental illness; have a history of trauma; are homeless, live in shelters, or live in substandard housing; are of Aboriginal descent; and have been unsuccessful in overcoming drug addiction. Aims to prevent overdose fatalities, reduce HIV risk, increase access to addiction treatment services, and improve public order. Nurses and non-clinical staff are available to respond to overdoses and meet the health care needs of clients; they provide education, wound care, overdose intervention, counselling, and referrals to community resources such as housing, residential detox, and recovery programs. Provides safer drug use supplies such as crack pipe mouthpiece and screens, and injection supplies. Clients must be at least 16 years of age and have a history of injection drug use. Clients must bring their own drugs and remain in possession of them at all times; no inhalation of drugs is permitted. Also offers free, anonymous testing of opioids and all substances for fentanyl and other contaminants, as well as take-home fentanyl test strips; hours are 10 am to 12 noon, and 2 pm to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Operated in partnership with PHS Community Services Society. Site hours are 9 am to 2 am.

Provides free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) that can be used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids like heroin, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, and fentanyl.
