Integrated Mobile Crisis Response Team (IMCRT)
Provides crisis intervention services to individuals and families experiencing immediate concerns related to mental health and addiction issues. Team provides care for individuals experiencing urgent/emergent mental health issues including, but not limited to: acute depression, dementia, psychosis (sometimes associated with schizophrenia), mania (usually related to a bipolar affective disorder), suicide risk, bizarre/uncharacteristic behaviours, acute distress related to other psychiatric conditions, aggression/conduct problems with children, post-traumatic stress, and severely debilitating anxiety. Also provides short-term support and stabilization in order to manage the crisis and ensure continuity of care between initial intervention and involvement of follow-up services. To access the service, community members and clinicians can call the Vancouver Island Crisis Line and ask to speak with the IMCRT. Serves southern Vancouver Island as far as Sooke/Port Renfrew, the South Malahat, Sidney, and provides phone consultations to the Gulf Islands. Hours of operation are 1 pm to 12 midnight, seven days a week.
