Kamloops Indigenous Justice Centre
Offers supports to Indigenous people—First Nations, Métis, and Inuit—dealing with criminal or child protection matters who otherwise cannot access help through legal aid. A diverse legal team provides services to the surrounding communities, with lawyers and outreach teams working with Nations and local service providers to connect people with services to support them, their families, and communities while dealing with legal issues. Services include legal support from staff lawyers, advocacy and support with the Ministry of Children and Family Development, a liaison to help connect with First Nations supports, and help accessing housing, treatment, and social services. Staff also provide referrals to culturally relevant programs and maintain accurate, current information on local services, eligibility, and waitlists. Serves Kamloops and area. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
