Keeping People Housed

Aims to increase housing stability by providing interest free loans to individuals and families on the Sunshine Coast with unexpected and temporary financial crises. Loans may be used for security deposits, rent, and essential utilities such as hydro and gas. Maximum loan amount can be up to $1,300 for a single person, and $1,800 for a family. The maximum repayment period is 24 months, and payments are made through automatic withdrawal. Applicants must be age 19 and over, a resident of the Sunshine Coast, have a steady source of income or receiving income assistance, qualify as low income, have legal status in Canada, and have an existing bank account; see website for full eligibility criteria. Applicants must provide proof of income, proof of identity, proof of residency, and three months of bank records. Appointments with the case manager are required.
